The Chase (1946) is a feverish noir dream, steeped in shadows, obsession, and disorientation. Chuck Scott, a down-on-his-luck veteran, stumbles into the employ of Eddie Roman — a sadistic Miami crime boss with a tight grip on his glamorous young wife, Lorna. When Lorna begs Chuck to help her escape to Havana, what unfolds is a surreal descent into betrayal, illusion, and the fragility of reality itself. Directed with eerie, dreamlike intensity, The Chase blends noir suspense with psychological unease, pulling viewers into a world where time bends, nothing is certain, and danger waits around every corner. One of the most haunting and unconventional noirs of its era.
